Alune community is mainly living in the three regions on the island of West Seram in Maluku Province, Indonesia: Taniwel region, Piru Region and Kairatu region.
Many of us are now living at the town for their education and works. They are called Alune people. We love music and are happy for working at the garden for raising our children and their education.
Alune has four dialects:
1. North dialect spoken at three coastal villages of Taniwel region (Murnaten, Nikulukan and Wakolo).
2. South dialect spoken at six villages of three regions (Manusa, Rambatu, Rumberu, Kawatu, Lohia Tala dan Lohia Sapalewa).
3. Central east dialect spoken at three villages (Buria, Uwet dan Laturake).
4. Central west dialect spoken at fourteen villages (Riring, Rumahsoal, Neniari pantai, Neniari gunung, Patahue, Hatumuli, Lumoli, Morekau, Laiuen, Kamal, Nurue, Hukuanakota, Hukukecil dan Watui).
There are many villages on the coast and can enjoy using 24 hours electric power or 12 hours during night, but there are also some other villages in the mountain jungle where there is no access by car. People still need to walk to access to the neigboring villages or to the coastal town near by. The staple food is cassava and sago, but eating rice is becoming popular. We produce a lot of kind vegetables at our gardens.
